About

The best golf course design draws from proven principles whilst embracing inclusive approaches. Strategic design that accommodates diverse playing abilities creates stronger clubs, happier members, and more sustainable golf communities.

Lyne Morrison’s strategic approach to inclusive course design has helped clubs across Australia increase participation, improve member retention, and create more enjoyable golf experiences for players of all ages and abilities.

Lyne Morrison professional portrait showing golf course architect and SAGCA member committed to inclusive design principles

Lyne Morrison Golf Design delivers creative course design solutions that enhance the playing experience, encourage return play, and address maintenance and sustainability needs. As a Full Member of the Society of Australian Golf Course Architects and a lifelong club golfer, Lyne brings a unique perspective to the challenges facing today’s clubs.

With three decades of project experience across Australia and internationally, Lyne maintains active connections with global golf course architecture communities through study tours and international collaborations. Her expertise in USGA Best Tees principles and involvement with European Institute of Golf Course Architects inclusion initiatives keeps her at the forefront of contemporary approaches to course setup for the modern game.

While 3.8 million Australians play golf, only half a million hold club memberships - and women make up 51% of off-course participants but just 18.1% of club members. This participation paradox drives Lyne’s focus on helping clubs create course setups that retain players rather than losing them to alternative formats.

Early Career

As a junior golfer, Lyne developed an early love for the game and its courses. Keen to learn more, she received her Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Canberra University after completing her thesis in Golf Course Design.

Lyne began her career in Sydney with the highly regarded American design firm Belt Collins. She moved to the Honolulu head office, and the Nelson & Wright golf course architecture division of the company, and later Nelson & Haworth in Singapore. During this time, Lyne gained a wealth of course design experience on large-scale residential and resort projects located throughout the Asia-Pacific region. American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) members, Robin Nelson and Rodney Wright, generously mentored Lyne in golf course planning, design and construction at this informative time.
