Springwood Country Club, NSW

Lyne Morrison Golf Design and Springwood Country Club are finding creative solutions to lift interest in the course, improve participation and membership levels and help the club to thrive and grow.

An initial assessment of the golf course is complete. Lyne is now assisting the club with a strategic planning process that will inform the scheduling of future works.

Belvoir Park Golf Course, Victoria

With a strategic focus on increasing the number of women and seniors on the course, Lyne Morrison Golf Design is reviewing the White tee set-up at Belvoir Park Golf Course.

Play from the traditional tees currently leaves many women out of reach of greens in regulation figures. Including Forward tees scaled to the women's game will support player retention, improved enjoyment and participation.

Paying attention to forced carries, variety in club selection and ensuring that shots required from each tee do not exceed the player's capabilities are central to better scoring and a more enjoyable round.

Issue 23 (2022) Staying the Course, by Lyne Morrison

Golf's popularity has boomed post-pandemic. Architects and clubs can ensure these new players maintain enthusiasm by offering improved and flexible course set-up.

Accommodating every playing group, including women and seniors, brings many benefits to a club. These include:

  • a more welcoming and enjoyable golf environment

  • reduced player intimidation

  • improved pace of play

  • increased participation by female golfers

  • increased participation by families

  • enhanced member retention

  • renewed interest in club membership

‘And how fortunate we are to have Lyne Morrison carry the flag for the slow swing speed golfer, with thoughtful analysis of how best to cater with hole set-up for these players.’

Harley Kruse, Past President, Society of Australian Golf Course Architects, 2018-2022.
